A Victorian conversion reimagined for contemporary living, where period character meets modern comfort.
This duplex apartment in a Notting Hill terraced house, minutes from Portobello Road presented an architectural puzzle: beautiful bones obscured by decades of piecemeal renovation. Our approach was to strip back, reconfigure, and restore - revealing original ceiling heights and sash windows while creating a more intuitive flow between spaces. A sculptural staircase anchors the apartment, connecting the formal areas with the open-plan kitchen and the terrace beyond.
The kitchen was entirely redesigned around the clients' love of cooking and entertaining, with bespoke cabinetry in a natural tone framing the dark lacquered dining table.
The result is a home that honours its Victorian heritage while feeling distinctly current. Natural materials, considered lighting, and a restrained colour palette create calm, inviting spaces that work as beautifully for quiet evenings as for lively dinner parties.
